Every new year poses a mound of goal setting — d Every new year poses a mound of goal setting — daily, weekly, monthly, or by years end. The higher the pile of goals, the softer the sand on the accent. It can feel like 2 steps forward and 2 steps back. If you were to have one single goal this year, or a daily goal, what would that be? How will you reach it?

2022 had its fair share of highs and lows. Moments 2022 had its fair share of highs and lows. Moments of exciting creation and frustrating stagnation. Time spent in one place for a while, and time spent bouncing around too quickly. Clarity and confusion. And that’s life. Life isn’t always everything we imagine, and sometimes it’s more than we could ever imagine. Growth doesn’t come when everything is going right, but it also doesn’t come from laying down when the going gets tough. This past year I did a lot of things that were out of my comfort zone, and also realized I was not taking as many chances on certain things. There’s been times where I’ve felt the creeping pressure of societal expectations and age and questions about my creative pursuits, and other times I’ve felt exhilarated and motivated and optimistic. And so much more. It’s an ebb and flow, tides of life. Going into the new year, I want to focus on my health and my creativity and pushing my boundaries, while also getting out of my head and finding ways to beat self-doubt. Focus on being better at making decisions and being organized and communicating better. Overall focus on getting to a place in my mind and body where I feel healthy. Thank you for all the love in 2022 on this page, thank you to everyone in my life for constantly supporting this perpetual nomad, thank you to those I could share moments with this past year. Here’s to taking things day by day, good or bad, making it through the hard moments, kindness and compassion, small victories, and chasing whatever makes you smile. 2022 isn’t all amazing recaps and awe-inspiring reels, and that’s okay for each and every one of us. We made is another loop around the giant fireball floating in an ever expanding nothingness…that’s badass. Photo thanks to @sashafairhead
Muhammad, a Berber Nomad in Merzouga who was our g Muhammad, a Berber Nomad in Merzouga who was our guide through the Sahara. Desert hardened eyes complimenting a big smile and a soft-spoken kindness hidden behind the faded turban. He told us briefly about life in the Sahara, his family, and the evolving lifestyles of Berber Nomads within the dunes. He led us into that sprawling sandscape for a sunset I’ll never forget, and was gone when the stars soon swallowed the pale blue sky. Like a living ghost story, a phantom of changing times that made a mark and left without a trace.

Sahara sunsets are just another level. The sound o Sahara sunsets are just another level. The sound of sand shifting from the winds over layered crests and troughs of dark dunes, the sun smoldering as it descends from the fiery sky into the hazy horizon.

Who wants to hike here?! Swipe for more lighthouse Who wants to hike here?! Swipe for more lighthouse love. 🤩 Here are some shots from my hike along the Seven Sisters yesterday (that my feet are still recovering from) of the Beachy Head Lighthouse. I’ve never seen a red and white striped lighthouse before, though it’s an image that pops into my head when I think of one. When we came over one of the numerous humps of the Sisters, my eyes did that cartoony pop out of the skull with excitement. Needless to say I was a bit obsessed with it, but can you blame me? The backdrop of the chalk white cliffs with the red and white lighthouse popping off the dark blue water… When we first spotted it, the day was still overcast and the distant horizon hazy — yet when we came right up to the crest near the lighthouse, the sun was starting to peek through the cloudscape, casting interesting light and shadow over the landscape. At one point the lighthouse almost appeared to pull a sundial move to show the time of day with its shadow.

This is just one of the incredible sights along the hike from Seaford to Eastbourne in the UK, just about 1.5hrs by trains from London. The hike itself is said to be moderate, yet be warned, the 12-14 miles of this hike is comprised of steep inclines and declines and many more big humped “Sisters” than seven.
